Surprise-surprise! We finally finished a collab with Donim8or!

It's a little different from what I usually do, because the melodies weren't written by me. I really struggle with happy melodies, they are hard to make for me.
But not for Donim8or. His melodies are simple but very good, I loved working with him on this project. It was very fun!

(We decided to upload this track on his channel)

Alright, I'll stop spamming you guys with journals for now :)

So, it seems that you guys liked that last video about Russian stereotypes. And you know what?
I liked it too, because we got a chance to make a video together, you definitely played a big part in it.

That's why I wanna make another video just like the last one.

Well, this time the idea is that you will tell me what I should draw!
(With a graphic tablet)

Yeah, I know it's a TOTALLY original idea and nobody has ever done this. But I want to try it.

P.S: I would probably do it on the weekend

P.S.S: But you know me, I'm probably going to procrastinate untill next week.

P.S.S.S: If you haven't seen my last video about Russian Stereotypes, check it out!

P.S.S.S.S: Don't forget to leave a comment about what I should draw under this journal!
(You can ask whatever you want, but don't make me do something bad okay? It's just for good fun)
Okay bye!

Hey guys! Wanna help me to make a video?

I only need you to comment under this journal something that YOU know about Russia.

You can write literally anything. Even stereotypes that you know.

(But please, try to avoid politics if possible)

I will read your comments and answer them in the video. Really simple.

Example: "Do Russians drink only vodka??" :D

I will try to finish the video on Monday.

So yeah, I don't know how it will go, but that's the idea. If we will have less than 5 comments, I'm not gonna do it, it won't be interesting then.

But anyway, thanks for commenting :)

If you are a hater of walls of text, please, close this journal. Thanks for understanding.

You keep reading, are you?

This is the last warning. There is a LOT of text down here.

Still here? Man, you are tough. Alright, I'll try to make it as enjoyable as I can, ONLY for you.

I haven't uploaded anything serious in, like, 15 days. FIVETEEN!!! (Those weird sketches don't count!)
You are probably wondering where are the new works and what that silly "Appul" is even doing.
What? You are not thinking this way? Cheers! You are the watcher I admire

Back to the topic!

Eh, I don't even know how to start this. Let me just say - the last week started with a great discovery, with the game called Undertale. Yeah, sounds like a good start!
I'm not saying that I haven't heard or seen it before. It is kinda difficult to neglect something like this...

When it came out, people were talking about Undertale literally everywhere. On Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and DeviantArt, of course. I have seen tons of fan art of Undertale.

I was really suspicious because of it.

Fans' enthusiasm pushed me away from the game. Well, you know how it works.
I've watched some LPs on YouTube. I learned that it's an old looking RPG game made independently by Toby Fox.
And I didn't get why it's so popular. My first thought was that it's another pointless overrated thing like "FNAF". (sorry fnaf fanboys, I don't like this game, and no, I won't read your weird fanfics!)

But then... I bought it. And I played it..

2 by DJ-AppleJ-Sound

Let's just say that I have never been so wrong.

It was...

Something...

Different.

How do you think... What makes a great game? Fancy graphics? Music? Or maybe awesome design?

Let's take an apple, for example. (Omahgawd he is talkin 'bout himself!!! Deejay appuljaay sownd!! Ahuhuhuhu!)
And let's draw this apple as cool as we can. What do we have as a result? An apple. It's still just an apple. No matter how cool it looks, it will be forever an average apple. And you will forget it very soon. (Sounds familiar, right? Don't go far away, just look at my photomanipulations. Hehe.... That sounded kinda depressing ._.)

But now let's take an apple and build an interesting story around it.
What? You don't know any stories about apples? But how about Snow White? Or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. (I don't know what version is correct...)
Everyone knows poison apple. At least I hope so...

And you most likely heard about that fairytail by Grimm brothers. Why so? Because of the amazing design of the letters in the book? Nonono...
It's because Grimm brothers created a nice story. The story keeps you interested.

The story is what matters! Remember that! And this works with everything. Arts, music, movies, books, games... People.
If you put the effort into something and try to tell an interesting story... It will be probably an awesome thing.

Okay, I'm rambling again, back to the topic!..

Undertale. It's a fantastic example of what I've just said. It has an old looking graphics, simple mechanics, poor looking sprites/pixelarts, but... It doesn't need those. It's a game... No.

IT IS NOT JUST A GAME.

I know that the game was discussed to death already and also, my english is freaking horrible... So, it's probably better to copy and paste a nice review by one guy on Steam. If I would try to make a review of Undertale, I will only repeat his words.

(Just a friendly reminder, it contains some spoilers, well, kind of)

(If you haven't played it, go and do that now, before reading what is down here)

(I promise, YOU WON'T regret that decision.)

(I know that this game isn't for everyone. There is no such a thing that can be for everyone. Tastes differ. But you should definitely consider trying it.)

~~~
Following the motto on the store page:
"the game where you don't have to destroy anyone"
The game always tries to nudge you in that direction, taking a back seat in your mind and reminding you to "Spare them!".
And of course, you answer with:
"Why? Why should I do that when it offers me the option to kill anyone I want right in front of me? What's in it for me?"
And that's where the game literally turns into a personal experience, as everyone has a different response for the game's selling point. And boy, does it turn to black or white pretty fast from here.
Undertale's ability to completely turn the tables of its story depending on your actions is massive.
Upon your game's startup, every little thing you do will be set in stone in the game's story pathing. If you're the type who immerses yourself into the game's charming music, laughs at the childish but hiliarious anctics, and is willing to hork down healing items just to prevent yourself from killing a monster just because a fight is difficult, the game rewards you.
It opens up a very character-developing and world-unfolding story, along with some of the most emotionally invested boss battles you have ever experienced.
You know a game is good when it breaks the fourth wall so well that you're shaking in your seat in true fear and can't stop the shivers, all while having to fight a hopelessly overpowered god of a boss. The amazing writing only starts once you beat the final few bosses, and the story doesn't stop being good from there onwards.
On the other hand, what makes this game different is that it keeps its dark side from you, and its entirely your choice to experience it. If you scoff at the game's sparing choice since you're too cool or grown up to possibly be nice to people, you can go around and intentionally sink your weapon into a monster who just wants to be a friend.
And unlike many other games, this isn't just a simple "Oops, I killed another unnamed enemy, let's reset the game and nothing changes" moment... The weight of a dark choice is huge. It forever changes your playthrough. Reset the game, and the characters know. Events change. And with each curious kill, you, in turn, turn from the only human in a land of monsters into the biggest monster in a land of innocents.
In the end, ignoring what Undertale sets out to do, which is to let you experience childlike innocence and fun, only makes it delibrately change the game into a quieter, more grim story. Very little character development, and the world isn't explained to you, nothing. There's very little reward for going through this route. Yet it is a choice you can do. Granted, you get two of the hardest boss battles by becoming the murderer and will be forced into Game Overs repeatedly from them, but even that is a message from the game... It's trying to stop you from getting to the end of this route. Before its too late.
It's as if you're doing deeds in an actual living, breathing world. And that's what makes it even more terrifying when you decide to become a murderer instead of a savior, because only you know that you're willingly going forward to obliterate every weakling in front of you. It's a test of your willpower, and it's your choice. The worst thing? The damage cannot be repaired. Go clean, or go home tainted.
The game even gives you the choice to completely delete everyone's happiness after the most satisfying happy ending. The happiness you worked so hard to earn. And you can even become the murderer after saving the world, which will only permanently taint your game and never let you have a satisfying ending again. That's absolutely brutal, and yet that's still a choice. Amazing.
Tons of gamers nowadays like to bash at popular games instead of trying it out, just because they feel accomplished by doing it.
But, if you are willing to experience why everyone's been talking about this game, give it a shot. This game does the morality concept so well that other games can only dream of doing the same, and it is one not to be forgotten.
It is a sin to call Undertale a game. Doing that would categorize Undertale into the bland and consequence-free "kill-em-all" genres that a lot of games are falling into now.
Undertale is a story-driven, emotional experience.
I couldn't have said it better myself. But I have something more to say about it.
Every character in the game has a unique personality. Not just bosses, every single monster. And there is its own unique way to befriend them.
You will remember all the names of main characters in the game. Because of their rich temper and simplicity.
I remember how I was forgetting names while reading Silmarillion, or playing Skyrim and so on. But in Undertale you won't forget any monster. And it amazing.
Every place has it's own secret and story. Even if you played through the game once, you can still replay and find something you've never seen before.
I played through the game thrice and still haven't tried everything and revealed every secret.
Speaking of secrets...
I've almost forgot about the soundtrack. It's indescribably beautiful not because of amazing quality and stuff. In the tracks, chiptune meets real instruments and other electronic sounds. Melodies are magical and very memorable just like the names. Almost every track is linked in some way.
And of course... The story. It's very interesting, mysterious, tragic and happy at the same time..
Enough rambling, I've said too much already. Go play the game. :)
Last thing... I want to say THANK YOU to Toby Fox.
THANK YOU TOBY, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR MAKING SUCH A BEAUTIFUL GAME!
Okay, you are probably tired of this journal already. But I had to write this, I really wanted to.
So.. What I was talking about? Ah yes! I was inactive last days mainly because of Undertale, hah. And oh boy, that was awesome. I regret nothing.
But I hope to make more arts very soon. Don't think that I'm dead or something like that.
I hate making promises and usually I don't do them, but I can say that I'm planning something big.
Okay, thanks for reading, everyone! I tried to make this journal as enjoyable as I can.
Also, for those who read to the bottom, I have something. As a reward, you can listen to WIP of my (maybe?) next track. Don't tell anyone!
Or not? Definitely not. You probably asking why.
Well there is a reason why I haven't published it yet.
Well, I left my computer for tonight to upload a 30GB video (visuals for my track). I woke up today adn YouTube said that I had some issues with copyright.
I thought that it is some sort of a joke. I haven't used copyrighted content in my video.
I used this video clip by Beeple (It's released under Creative Commons) for the background
His stuff is awesome, I really recommend to check him out.
So the company WMG claimed my video as their property, took away my Ad revenue and blocked MY video, with MY music in 250 countries.
I hate this broken system on YouTube. And I hate those idiotic companies.
